Mitsubishi Pajero 2026 Price and Specs – New 2.4L Diesel 7-Seater Revealed

Mitsubishi has brought back one of its most iconic SUV nameplates with the all-new 2026 Mitsubishi Pajero. The new-generation Pajero has been revealed as a three-row, seven-seat SUV with a rugged ladder-frame chassis, a 2.4-litre clean diesel engine and serious 4WD hardware.

Unlike the previous-generation Pajero, the new model is designed to combine traditional off-road capability with a more premium cabin and modern technology. Mitsubishi has also retained key features expected by serious off-road buyers, including low-range gearing, a rigid rear axle and the Super Select 4WD-II system.

The new Pajero will initially be produced in Thailand, with the company planning to expand availability across global markets. However, India launch and India-specific pricing have not been confirmed yet.

Mitsubishi Pajero 2026 Price

Mitsubishi has not announced the final price of the new Pajero for every market yet. Pricing will vary depending on the country, trim level and equipment.

For India, there is currently no confirmed ex-showroom price because Mitsubishi has not officially announced an India launch for the new-generation Pajero.

The SUV is expected to sit in the premium full-size off-road SUV category when it reaches international markets. Its ladder-frame construction, advanced 4WD system, seven-seat layout and diesel powertrain put it directly into competition with other serious body-on-frame SUVs.

New Pajero Design

The 2026 Pajero gets a completely new exterior while retaining several visual cues associated with the nameplate.

Mitsubishi calls the design theme “Grand Charisma”, with a tall and upright stance, pronounced wheel arches and strong horizontal lines giving the SUV a muscular appearance.

The front-end features T-shaped lighting elements and a large grille, while the overall body design has been developed to give the Pajero a wider and more planted look.

The rear design also carries a distinctive spare-wheel-inspired styling element, while the C-pillar takes inspiration from the roll-bar design seen on the original Pajero.

The new SUV measures:

  • Length: 4,920 mm
  • Width: 1,925 mm
  • Height: Up to 1,910 mm
  • Wheelbase: 2,870 mm
  • Ground clearance: 230 mm
  • Approach angle: 30.4 degrees
  • Ramp breakover angle: 22.6 degrees
  • Departure angle: 25.8 degrees

These dimensions give the new Pajero a substantial road presence while also providing useful off-road geometry.

2.4L Diesel Engine Produces 480 Nm

One of the biggest highlights of the new Pajero is its diesel engine.

The SUV gets a specially developed 2.4-litre four-cylinder clean diesel engine with a variable-geometry turbocharger. It produces up to 150 kW of power and 480 Nm of torque.

The engine is paired with a newly developed 8-speed automatic transmission, which also gets a Sport mode.

The strong torque output is particularly important for the Pajero because the SUV has been engineered for off-road use, towing and demanding terrain rather than just highway driving.

Ladder-Frame Chassis

The new Pajero returns to a traditional ladder-frame construction.

Mitsubishi has strengthened the chassis to improve torsional and bending rigidity while also working on reducing vibration and improving ride comfort.

The suspension setup includes a double-wishbone front suspension and a five-link rigid rear axle.

This combination allows Mitsubishi to maintain the durability and wheel-control characteristics required for serious off-road driving while giving the new Pajero a more comfortable on-road character.

Super Select 4WD-II With Low Range

The 2026 Pajero is not designed as a soft-roader.

It gets Mitsubishi’s Super Select 4WD-II system along with S-AWC technology. Drivers can select different drivetrain configurations depending on the terrain.

The system provides:

  • 2H rear-wheel drive
  • 4H full-time 4WD
  • 4HLc with centre differential lock
  • 4LLc with centre lock and low-range gearing

There are also seven selectable drive modes:

Normal, Eco, Gravel, Snow, Mud, Sand and Rock.

The availability of low-range gearing is particularly significant because it allows the Pajero to deliver controlled torque at low speeds when tackling steep climbs, loose surfaces and technical off-road sections.

New Mitsubishi Pajero Gets 7 Seats

The new Pajero has a three-row, seven-seat interior.

Mitsubishi has focused heavily on making the third row more usable rather than treating it as occasional seating.

The second row can slide by up to 150 mm and can also tumble forward to improve access to the third row.

There is additional foot space beneath the second-row seats, while the third row has been designed to provide improved comfort for adult passengers.

The cabin also gets features such as ventilated seats and a three-zone automatic climate-control system.

Dual 14.3-Inch Screens

Technology is another major upgrade for the new Pajero.

The dashboard features a large monolithic-style display setup with two 14.3-inch screens.

Mitsubishi has also revived the concept of its traditional Pajero multi-meter in digital form. The new Multi-Meter can display information such as altitude, compass direction, temperature, pitch and roll angles and other off-road data.

Drivers can choose from multiple display backgrounds, allowing the digital instrument experience to retain some of the character of older Pajero models.

Wireless smartphone connectivity is also available.

Advanced Safety Features

The 2026 Pajero gets a long list of modern safety and driver-assistance technologies.

The SUV is equipped with eight airbags, including a centre airbag designed to provide additional protection between occupants.

Its ADAS package includes features such as:

  • Pedestrian and cyclist detection
  • Motorcycle detection
  • Junction assistance
  • Predictive forward collision warning
  • Emergency assistance for pedal misapplication
  • Emergency Lane Assist
  • Front Cross Traffic Alert
  • Adaptive cruise control
  • Lane Keep Assist

The SUV also gets a 3D Multi Around Monitor using four cameras. The system can provide a wider view around the vehicle and help the driver judge obstacles and terrain during low-speed manoeuvres.

12-Speaker Yamaha Audio System

The premium cabin experience is further enhanced by a 12-speaker Yamaha audio system with dual amplifiers.

Mitsubishi has also worked on cabin insulation, including acoustic glass and additional sound-deadening measures.

When Will the 2026 Pajero Launch?

The new Pajero will begin its rollout from Thailand before expanding into other international markets.

Mitsubishi has planned availability across around 100 countries from fiscal 2027, although the exact timing will differ between markets.

For India, there is currently no official launch confirmation or price announcement. The Pajero name still has strong recognition among Indian SUV buyers, but Mitsubishi’s passenger-vehicle operations in India have changed significantly since the previous Pajero was sold here.

New Pajero Brings Back the Hardcore SUV Formula

The 2026 Mitsubishi Pajero marks a major return for the legendary SUV nameplate. Instead of following the trend toward a softer crossover-focused design, Mitsubishi has gone in the opposite direction with a ladder-frame platform, diesel engine, low-range 4WD, seven seats and serious off-road hardware.

At the same time, the new model gets the technology and comfort expected from a modern flagship SUV, including dual 14.3-inch displays, advanced driver assistance, a premium Yamaha sound system and a more refined three-row cabin.

The biggest question for Indian buyers is still the same: Will Mitsubishi bring the new Pajero to India? For now, there is no official confirmation, meaning its India price and launch date remain unknown.
